BANDITS DOMINATE TUNE UP

The Bandits, dominate the Phoenix Tune Up, after a sluggish start on Saturday afternoon. An opening loss to Los Vatos, woke the team up, and they rattled off 5 straight wins to take the championship.

The wins, in order were against The Rogues, C,J and S Express, Los Vatos, Arizona Elite, and again against the Rogues in the championship game.

A highlight of the Elite game was a grand slam by Wade Schneider! Way to go Wade!

Stats as soon as I get them. Up next are the World Championships.

LVSSA WORLDS STATS

The Bandits go 5-3 and finish 3rd in a brutal, hot and windy tournament. All teams were closely matched with the Bandits losing to Four Seasons and Fangrabbers by walk-off hits in the bottom of the 7th innings. The heat and long grass took it's toll on the outfielders. Would have been nice if we had some relief out there Ricky Lee. Stats as soon as I get them. Next up is the Phoenix Tuneup October 2nd and 3rd.

QUOTE OF THE TOURNAMENT

After catching "Leon" rifling through my bat bag, I ask him what the "F" he is doing? He makes up some excuse about how he thought it was Q's bag. I told him to get away from it. He jumps up, puts his hands behind his back, and starts dancing around like a fairy yelling, "Arrest me officer! Arrest me officer!"

BANDITS ARE MIDWEST CHAMPS!

The Bandits go undefeated in the double elimination round to win the rain shortened Midwest Championships. The Bandits had already beaten Can Do Metals and 50 Caliber to advance to the finals bracket when a huge thunderstorm dumped up to 3 inches of rain on the Kansas City area on Sunday morning. No matter, because the Bandits had already beaten all of the 50 Major teams on Friday and Saturday, losing only to Major Plus Coors Light by one run on Saturday morning.

The Bandits did not want another second place finish and they really stepped it up in the last game against 50 Caliber out of St. Louis. This was the must win game of the tournament and they hit the ball well, keeping the pressure on for all seven innings. The win earned them another appearance at the TOC in Febuary of 2011. It will be their fourth straight trip to Florida!

Dinner at the Backfire BBQ on Friday night was a blast! Everyone showed up. Next up are the Arizona State Championships at the end of the month. Maybe a showdown with Fangrabbers?

QUOTE OF THE TOURNAMENT

Rock 'N Reno

During a crucial inning as the Bandits were attempting to keep pace with the Barcelona Bandits, Mike Swank and Randy Robison both fouled out to the third baseman dashing any hopes of a comeback victory.

While sitting in a dejected dugout, Randy was heard to say to Mike, "Mine went farther than yours."

PRESCOTT

Once again the Bandits come up just short, losing to the No Name 50's in extra inninings of the championship game. It was the only game they lost all weekend, but it was also the only one that counted. The No Names were aided by an outrageous umpires call on a fantastic catch by Brendan "Leon" Dillon, who is trying to make this club. Good luck Leon!  Nevertheless, it was a great tuneup for Reno and a great time. Thanks goes out to Barry for new hats and Mike Swank and Arnie for really cool new shirts. Both Arnie and Mike are now out of the penalty box, but replacements will be found! Next up is Rock 'N Carson City!

ROCK 'N RENO FIELD ASSIGNMENTS

It was nice while it lasted. The last two years the Bandits got to play at the new Golden Eagle complex in Sparks. Alas, this year we will be in Carson City, about a 45 minute drive from Reno. Not that bad a drive. Golden Eagle was about 30 minutes itself. Check out Virginia City if you get a chance. Very cool.

SPRING WORLD RESULTS

The Bandits again come up one run short and finish second to Fangrabbers. It was a great weekend, playing in beautiful St. George, Utah at the awesome Canyons Complex. After Friday the weather was beautiful. Red rocks and snow capped mountains. The Bandits had come into the weekend with a 9 game losing streak. We went 6-2, losing only to Fangrabbers.

New players Arnie Vice and Barry Morten joined the team and with Kenny "Smooth Operator" Hill  and Ricky Bobbie showing up, this was, in my opinion, the strongest team we have ever put on the field. We were the number 2 seed and played like it. Winning blowouts and close games.

Casa Grande and Prescott are up next, then the Rock 'N Reno tourney. I will post the stats when I get them from Keith. Good job everyone!
